Southside Support meets monthly at various cafes and restaurants across our serviced south metro Atlanta counties: Clayton, Coweta, Henry, Fayette, Spalding, and more. Check out our events page for details about the coffee meeting nearest you. This is one of our board president’s favorite programs. Read about how much she loves meeting face to face with moms, parents, caregivers and friends of individuals with special needs. It literally lights her up!
“As dawn approached this morning, I woke up with a smile on my face. I immediately thought of our coffee support group gatherings and how they re-energize my soul for the special needs community. There were only four of us yesterday morning, but four is plenty when we are offering each other the fuel we need to advocate for our families another day. We often take the back half of Highland Bakery at the Avenue in Peachtree City. It’s a favorite spot for several of our “regulars.” Some of our families have children and loved ones with invisible disabilities ranging from mild to severe, while others struggle with physical ailments and differences. Some of our families are facing end-of-life decisions and comfort measures. Despite our differences, we share a common goal: to lift each other up, brainstorm, educate, and love each other. In these moments, we become part of the Southside Support tribe. It is this TRIBE of determined individuals that filled my heart and put a smile on my face this morning.”
